3 Myths about CBD that Aren’t True
There is a lot of information about CBD on the internet. Some of the information is true and some are concocted. Companies marketing their CBD products often make tall claims about the product. And other articles blatantly make claims about treating certain diseases or preventing them that aren’t backed up with research. At Holy Chews, we help our customers understand the many myths surrounding the product. Some of them include:
1. All CBD Products are Psychoactive
Not all CBD Products are psychoactive. CBD can be made from marijuana and hemp which are two different strains of the cannabis family. Both of these plants contain the cannabinoids CBD and THC, but marijuana contains a higher concentration of THC and hemp contains a higher percentage of CBD.
THC is a psychoactive compound that gives users a ‘high.’ It is on the list of controlled substances in many states across the country. Hemp-based CBD is not a controlled substance and may offer a wide range of benefits without the high. This is because unlike THC, CBD does not bind with the CB1 receptors in the brain. On the contrary, it interferes with the binding of the THC and dilutes its euphoric effect. At Holy Chews, our range of hemp-derived CBD products like CBD gummies contains less than 0.3% of THC.
2. CBD Products can be used to Treat…
FDA regulations around hemp gummies and other CBD products are clear: they must not be advertised as a product that can cure or treat serious illnesses such as Alzheimer’s or cancer. Although there are plenty of studies about the benefits of CBD, none of these are conclusive enough to be recognized as a medicine. There are those who claim CBD can help with a wide range of issues like stress and pain management, but if you read an article or advertisement about CBD claiming to cure illnesses, take them with a grain of salt. The research to back up those claims just hasn’t been done yet.
3. CBD Products are Addictive:
CBD products with less than 0.3% THC are not addictive. In fact, there have been several studies to show CBD can have anti-addictive properties*. These products could then help people manage their dependence on addictive substances like alcohol and marijuana.
